Lauderdale Co, AL – Mary Smith and Gaius Crakaal Killed in Crash on Rd 11
Lauderdale Co, AL (December 21, 2020) – A man and a woman were killed and a teenager has been hospitalized following a car accident on Saturday, December 19th in Lauderdale County.
53-year-old Mary Emily Montgomery Smith, and 49-year-old Gaius Wayne Crakaal, both residents of Florence, died Saturday when their vehicle ran off a bend in the road on Lauderdale County Road 11 and struck a tree.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. Crakaal was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short while later.
The 15-year-old in the car was airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville for emergency medical treatment of severe crash-related injuries.
This accident is under investigation by local law enforcement.
