Etowah Co, AL – Fatal Accident Involving Fire Truck on I-59
Etowah Co, AL (November 15, 2020) – An individual was killed on Sunday, November 15th when a car they were traveling in collided with the rear-end of a Reece City Fire Department truck reporting to the scene of an accident on Interstate 59.
Initial reports state that, at about 7:30 a.m., crews were dispatched to a one-car collision in the northbound lanes of Interstate 59 near Gadsen.
A 2005 Nissan Armada occupied by four individuals was unable to avoid colliding into the back of a fire engine.
The Highway Patrol Division of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency later confirmed that a passenger in the Armada had died.
The Armada’s driver along with the other two passengers were transported via ambulance to Erlanger Baroness Hospital.
Neither the deceased nor any of the injured victims have been identified.
