Injury Accidents in Birmingham
In Alabama, mandatory liability insurance is $25,000 for bodily injury or death per person, $50,000 total for bodily injury or death per accident, and $25,000 for property damage.
This provides a substantial amount of protection should you ever be involved in a car accident. The truth is, however, that the more serious your injuries are, the more money they require and this may not be enough. Alabama does not have personal injury protection, and it adheres to a doctrine of contributory negligence. This means that if you are found to be even the slightest bit liable for the accident, you are not entitled to receive any financial compensation.
Your injuries may be serious enough to produce overwhelming hospital bills, substantial damage to your vehicle, or the lifelong handicap or even death of a family member. These expenses grow even more imposing when the insurance company rejects your claim by citing a lack of proof, downplaying your injuries or medical treatment, or one of numerous other tactics designed to keep you from obtaining financial compensation.
Even though we would like to believe that every person is able to recover from their injuries, thousands of people sustain injuries that leave them permanently disabled. The mental, physical, and financial consequences of accidents are often overwhelming for victims and their families.
