Alabama Deadly Pedestrian Accidents
Pedestrians are much more likely to be killed in a car accident compared to those traveling in passenger cars. There is little protecting a pedestrian from the full impact of the collision, meaning they are at greater risk of suffering fatal injuries. In fact, statistics show that pedestrians are nearly 1.5 times more likely to be killed in a car accident. Thousands of pedestrians are killed annually in car crashes across the country. In 2018, a pedestrian was killed every 88 minutes on average.
The grief and devastation of losing a loved one due to another’s negligence are nearly unbearable. Surviving family members often take on damages resulting from the accident, and they may be able to recover lost compensation by pursuing a wrongful death claim with the help of an experienced Alabama personal injury attorney. In a Birmingham wrongful death claim, a representative of the decedent’s estate — usually a close family member — seeks damages from those at fault for the person’s death to obtain compensation for damages.
At the Law Office of Dwayne L. Brown, we understand the grief and pain that families experience when a family member is killed.
