Moundville, AL – James and Mary Pope Killed in Head-On Collision on AL-69
Moundville, AL (February 27, 2021) – A multi-car crash left two people dead and another person injured on Thursday, February 25th.
Reports show that the accident took place at about 4:00 p.m. on Alabama Highway 69 near milepost 127, just outside of the Moundville city limits.
66-year-old James Pope Jr., and his passenger, 62-year-old Mary Pope, both residents of Uniontown, were driving along the highway in their 1995 Chevrolet 1500 pick-up truck when a head-on collision with a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 42-year-old Antonio Rowe, a resident of Tuscaloosa, occurred.
The Popes were pronounced dead at the scene.
Rowe sustained injuries and was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
